CONCEPT
When the Third Reich rose to power during World War II, not everyone collaborated with the Nazis. People from all walks of life stood up to the Nazi’s campaign of hate to resist. Some forged documents, some smuggled good and people, some took up arms, and some cared for others and refused to lose their humanity. This exhibit—the MHHE’s first new permanent exhibit in a decade—is aimed at fifth-grade school groups (and the general public) to tell the stories of these brave resistors and provide historical context about the countries involved in the war.
The design of this exhibit involved building and painting walls, designing over 75 interpretive panels (including several interactive flip-door panels), installing multiple wallcoverings and vinyl elements, labeling multiple artifact cases, and contributing to the writing and editing of the content. I am grateful to the team at the MHHE for their contributions, especially senior curator Adina Langer.
The Museum of History and Holocaust Education is free and open to the public every weekday. Stop by and say hello!
